Available Now at the CVRD office at 175 Ingram St and all Dog Licencing vendors listed below:

  • CVRD 2026 Dog Licences $45
    • $35 if purchased before January 31, 2025
  • CVRD 2026 Kennel Licences $200
    • $175 if purchased before January 31, 2025

Benefits of Dog Licencing

  • To offset the cost of animal control services including patrols and investigating complaints
  • Dog parks, their maintenance and supplies, including waste disposal bags
  • Identify a lost pet
  • Impound dog care including medical attention, if needed

Dog Licence Vendors

Dog licences and tags for residents of the CVRD Electoral Areas are available at any of the following locations:

  • Mill Bay – Laughing Llama; Kerry Park Recreation Centre
  • Shawnigan Lake – Shawnigan Lake Community Centre
  • Cobble Hill – Laughing Llama
  • Cowichan Bay – Pier 66
  • Duncan – CVRD Office; Buckerfield’s; Coastal Animal Control Services
  • Ladysmith – Town of Ladysmith City Hall office; Frank Jameson Community Centre
  • Lake Cowichan – Cowichan Lake Recreation

During regular office hours, please call 250.746.2500 and provide the four digit licence number and year the tag was issued.

Coastal Animal Control Services of BC is contracted to provide dog control services to the Electoral Areas of the CVRD.

Coastal Animal Control Services is the first contact for all dog related issues.

  • Investigates dog incidences
  • Retrieves dogs at large
  • Makes every effort to reunite lost dogs with owners

Are you reporting a dog incident?

Provide as much detail as possible, including:

  • What happened?
  • When and where did it happen; do you have an exact address?
  • What does the dog look like? Breed?
  • What is the contact information of the dog owner and any witnesses?
  • What is the license plate number of vehicle of people involved?
  • Do you have photos of injuries, before and after treatment that include date information
  • When did you document the incident?
