As the Cowichan Valley population increases, the region’s waste management services also evolve to meet the needs of our growing community. The Recycling and Waste Management 2021 Annual Report provides an overview of how we are managing the changing needs of our community as we work toward the ultimate goal of Zero Waste.
The Report highlights the goals of recycling and waste management as directed by the 2018 regional Solid Waste Management Plan, and the various services, programs and public education projects that bring these goals to life. To read the report, click here.
From May 9th - June 10th, 2022, the CVRD invited regional residents, business owners, community groups, and those with an interest in three-stream curbside-collection (organics, recycling, garbage), to participate in an inclusive engagement process to gather their thoughts on the future of curbside collection.
Read the Public Engagement Summary Findings Report and the two-page Public Engagement Summary Report to see what we learned from our community in Phase 1.
Using this information, we will be developing a set of options for our community which will be presented for feedback in the fall of 2022.
