During the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s the concept by the CNR Railroad was to divide the track into area sections for maintenance. Each section was approximately ten miles of track and was looked after by a section Foreman and his crew. Mile 77 Park (77 miles from Victoria) was basically where the foreman, his family, and the crew resided. Their track responsibility was from Youbou Mill to just east of the Town of Lake Cowichan. There is an historical plaque on site at the park if one wishes to learn more about the history of the park.
West off the Trans-Canada Highway onto the Cowichan Valley Highway (Highway 18), right onto Youbou Road, left onto Creekside Drive and it is just before the community of Youbou.
