Community Design Projects

A design 'charrette' is a collaborative meeting during which members of a community share their aspirations for the design of their community. There are several benefits to hosting a charrette. They include:

  • Being inspired by various design ideas
  • Establishing/reinforcing a sense of community
  • Kick-starting a design or solution to a problem
  • Hearing directly from the community about their priorities for community design, safety, comfort, etc.
  • Providing a comfortable space for people to ask questions and provide comment

See the links below for information on individual design charrettes by community.
