One of the goals of the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan is to ensure that all residents have equal access to curbside collection before banning organics from garbage disposal. Based on 2021 data, if all organics were diverted from landfill disposal, our region could reduce landfill waste by 13,000 tonnes per year. Visit Plan Your Cowichan and watch this video to learn more about Three-Stream Curbside Collection!
We want to hear from Cowichan Valley residents, business owners, community groups and those who have an interest in three-stream (organics, recycling and garbage) curbside collection. Provide your insights and feedback to help guide what a future three-stream curbside collection service might look like for households receiving curbside service in CVRD Electoral Areas. Share your ideas, insights, concerns and preferences by completing our online survey, participating in a Community Circles Workshop, or Electoral Area Focus Group.
